Since 1948, Manica is an Italian company with a historical solid experience in the production and marketing of copper salts and copper-based products used in agriculture, animal feed and many industrial applications. Manica group is composed by the headquarters Manica Spa Italy, the sister company Manica Cobre based in Barcelona Spain, the sister company Manica Portugal based in Lisboa Portugal and Industrias Omicron based in Tarragona. Industrias Omicron is a producer of Technical Copper Oxychloride. The company today is led by its third generation and is mainly oriented on the green chemistry.
Manica continuously invests in technological innovation and in Research & Development of increasingly high performance products; it has an internal laboratory and collaborates with prestigious Universities and International Bodies.
The Research & Development Team, constantly updates, plans and develops innovative and performing products. It has a modern laboratory able to meet the challenges that the market requires in short time.
Discover the LaboratoryManica is available to evaluate different projects (copper based and others) and chemical formulations for third parties, in partnership or for customers‘ specific requests.

Thanks to the activity of copper ions, Copper Sulphate is used against the development of algae, bacteria and for the disinfection of surface materials. Our product is the only authorised Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate allowed in Europe as a biocidal products which fall under Product Type 2 of the European Regulation 528/2012.
Copper has a wide range of applications. A very important application is the use of Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate in the animal feed industry as a trace element. Manica is an active member of an international non profit association named EMFEMA (European Manufacturers of Feed Minerals Association) which ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of various macro minerals, trace elements, specific minerals in the animal feed industry.
Manica has the authorization to produce oligo-elements dedicated for the animal feed industry and its registration number is α IT M 00001 TN.
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals) is a European Union regulation that imposes to register all chemicals substances which do not fall under an already dedicated regulation. REACH applies to all the chemical products that are produced and sold or imported in the European Union.
In order to be in compliance with the Regulation, companies must correctly identify and manage risks related to chemical substances, presenting relevant dossiers/studies to the official entity ECHA (European Chemical Agency).
Manica is part of the Copper Compound Consortium and holds the role of Lead Registrant for Copper Sulphate.
Manica is also involved at International and Institutional levels in representing copper manufacturers. Since 1991, it has been a founding member of the European Copper Task Force, an association of manufacturers committed to the defence of the active ingredient Copper used in agriculture in the European Union, within the framework of Directive 91/414/EC today under the Regulation No. 1107/09.
In January 2009, the work carried out by the Task Force led to the Annex 1 inclusion of copper-based products. The copper forms that have been defended at European level are Copper Oxychloride, Bordeaux Mixture, Copper Hydroxide,Tribasic Copper Sulphate and Copper Oxide.
In Manica plants, the production process is controlled and certified, emissions are reduced to a minimum, electricity is produced by 5000 m2 of photovoltaic panels and all the heat is recovered and re-used in the production cycle.
All this in order to achieve the ambitious objective of zero pollutants, reduce the carbon footprint of the products and promote sustainability.
