The use of copper sulphate in electrodes is widespread throughout the world. It is employed to measure the corrosion potential of natural gas pipelines. In fact, saturated copper sulfate solutions provide a constant and reliable reference potential in monitoring the condition of underground pipelines that need to be preserved from galvanic corrosion.
The main problem that can be encountered in these reference electrodes is the leakage of the copper sulfate solution through the porous septum of the electrode.
To overcome this leakage Manica has developed a specific product, in Gel form: Blugel. This product is designed to totally replace the traditional copper sulfate solution. The Gel form of Blugel allows a longer life of the reference electrode, eliminating the problem of leakage and ensuring a reference system always efficient even after many years. It results in significant cost savings in monitoring the status of the pipe line.
